Ever since I heard that ABC was planning on spinning off Bobbi and Hunter with their own show (Marvel’s Most Wanted), I knew their time on the show was going to come to an end but didn’t expect it to happen so soon.

Since Bobbi was introduced on SHIELD, she quickly became one of my favorite characters (others include May and FitzSimmons) for her kick ass ways. Talk of the spinoff began last year and I will admit I didn’t want it to happen as I didn’t want to lose Bobbi on SHIELD. Hunter, on the other hand, is a character I could have done without but I guess the two are a package deal.

So “Parting Shots” was all about setting up their departure.

We flip between Bobbi and Hunter being interrogated by Interpol in a Russian gulag and how the two got there.

The two go there all in the name of following Malick in Siberia to a plant of some sort. While on surveillance, Hunter and Bobbi talk about how they never went on a proper holiday together. Also, Hunter wants to take out Malick but their orders are to just watch and report. What the two find is an Inhuman being wheeled in.

Bobbi and Hunter go to report it to Coulson et al but are caught. Luckily the two overcome the soldiers and make their way to the Zephyr. Once they’ve given their report, FitzSimmons figures the Inhuman is a Russian general.

The SHIELD team notices that the Russian president is arriving at the plant to meet with Malick and they know it is a trap to assassinate him. So May and Hunter are paired up while Daisy, Bobbi and Mack are teamed up.

Once in the plant, May and Hunter find the dead body of the Russian attache. Bobbi goes undercover as a Russian soldier to spy on the meeting with the Russian president and Petrov to discuss the Inhuman sanctuary state. Daisy and Mack are in the control room monitoring the meeting too.

Things start to go awry and Hunter takes the Russian president to safety while Bobbi confronts the Russian Inhuman whose powers involve getting his shadow to do the dirty work. Daisy, Mack and Bobbi are unable to defeat the shadow and determine the Russian general needs to be taken out. Bobbi does so but gets arrested. While Hunter is taking the Russian president to safety, he gets arrested too.

In the interrogation room, Bobbi and Hunter and individually questioned about what went down at the plant. Both say they were on holiday and were mushroom gathering. Hunter answers their questions by offering his recipe for mushroom soup. Bobbi is a bit more serious with her answers but doesn’t break when Interpol wants to know if she works for SHIELD.

The US president tries to reason with the Russian president about how Bobbi and Hunter saved him. However, the Russian president believes that the US is gathering an Inhuman army thus creating an arms race.

Coulson joins the meeting and goes into the interrogation room and cuts the security feed. Coulson tells Bobbi and Hunter about their extraction plan but the pair refuses it as they don’t want to expose SHIELD and their team. Fortunately, Hunter and Bobbi are set free but are disavowed.

Coulson returns to the Zephyr and tells the team that Bobbi and Hunter won’t be coming back. In an emotional scene, Bobbi and Hunter are at a bar discussing what to do next. The bartender starts giving then several shots but doesn’t say who gave them. The two look around the bar and see FitzSimmons, Daisy, May, Mack and Coulson all around. It is a spy farewell. Bobbi has tears in her eyes (and me too) as each take a shot to say goodbye to their team members. The hardest good bye of all is reserved for Mack, their long-time friend who is having a difficult time to bid them farewell. Eventually, goodbyes are had and shots taken. Hopefully, Marvel’s Most Wanted gets picked up and we see Bobbi and Hunter on our screens again. But I also would like ABC to give Agent Carter a third and final season so it can end properly.

In the coda, Malick is skeet shooting when his daughter arrives asking what happened in Russian. The daughter also wants to know about Hive and when she can meet him. Malick says he is still getting stronger and also doesn’t know what Hive wants. Curious to know more about this daughter and even wonder if she is an Inhuman.
