Barry is determined to run faster in order to return to Earth-2 and defeat Zoom and avenge Jay’s death. So this brings us to a dam where Team Flash is helping Barry run across a really big canyon. Unfortunately, Barry isn’t able to reach the speed necessary to make it across and falls seemingly to his death but luckily Cisco brought a net controlled by drones that catch Barry.

Back at STAR Labs, Jesse is catching up on pop culture and is confused when she hears about Beyonce breaking up from Destiny’s Child. Apparently on Earth-2 Beyonce is a senator.

When Team Flash returns, everyone is stressed out so Cisco suggests a night out to blow off some steam. Jesse is eager to go too and Harry lets her go but not without giving her a meta human detection watch.

At the club everyone is having a good time and downs shots (except for Jesse). Iris arrives with Wally and we see Jesse definitely crushing on Wally. However, because Barry is nearby, Jesse’s watch keeps going off. When Jesse goes to the ladies to disable the watch, she hears a recording from her father stating he would do anything to get Jesse back.

Back at the club, Barry and Iris watch Caitlin and Cisco hit the dance floor. The two talk about their coupledom in the future and on Earth-2. Everyone’s evening is cut short when a speedster a robs the club and the people. The Flash is being blamed for the theft and Barry doesn’t want this speedster to sully his name.

Unfortunately, Iris’ new editor, Scott, wants everyone at Central City Picture News to write how the Flash is not the hero people think he is. Scott in particular wants Iris to write the story of how the Flash has turned to crime since she was there. Iris thinks/knows the Flash is a hero and not a thief but reluctantly agrees to write the story. When Scott checks up on the status of Iris’ story, she stalls by inviting him out for coffee. While at Jitters, Scott explains that he took down a corrupt politician that everyone saw as a hero. Iris tells Scott that not everyone has a hidden agenda. Scott then asks Iris if it is a deal breaker if her dates don’t like the Flash. Iris is stunned and didn’t think their coffee as a date. Scott realizes that Iris was just stalling so she wouldn’t have to write her story. More on these two later and especially how wrong this is.

Back at STAR Labs, Jesse confronts her dad about his message and Harry defends his role as a father wanting to protect his child.

Meanwhile, Barry wonders how this speedster can be faster than him, if they weren’t affected by the particle accelerator. Caitlin confesses to Barry about Velocity 9 and how Jay took it to stop a meta human while they were on Earth-2. Barry isn’t happy that Caitlin and Harry hid from him something that could make him faster. Caitlin and Harry try and tell him that V9 is dangerous but Barry won’t listen. Caitlin gets upset and Cisco goes to comfort her but starts to vibe about Zoom. But before Cisco can say anything a social media alerts pops up about the new speedster. When the Flash goes to confront the speedster, he is outmatched again but sees that is a female wearing a mask and a sleek suit.

When Team Flash hears this, Caitlin think she might know who might be helping our female speedster. Caitlin sought the help of a friend at Mercury Labs, Eliza Harmon, when she got stuck in her development of V9. Caitlin only gave Eliza a bit of the recipe but Harry thinks she might have reversed engineered the recipe.

Joe and Caitlin go to Mercury Labs to question Eliza but she knows nothing so the two leave giving her the benefit of the doubt. But of course, Eliza is the guilty party as the V9 has caused her to have a mental break where she is talking to herself. Eliza is addicted to V9 and the speed and injects herself with the last vial she has.

To get her fix, Eliza breaks into STAR Labs, puts the Flash in the Cortex, knocks Joe out to grab his gun and threatens to kill Jesse that forces Harry and Caitlin to make more V9. When Cisco tries to approach. Trajectory, as she calls herself, shoots at him and he vibes again about Zoom.

Eventually, Harry and Caitlin make more V9 and give it to Trajectory but instead of injecting herself, injects Violet. Trajectory takes off and the Flash is freed. Jesse starts to convulse and foam at the mouth. The only thing that can save Jesse is a blood transfusion to flush the V9 out of her system. Unfortunately, Jesse’s blood type is not known on Earth-1 but luckily Harry is a match.

Jesse is going to be find and when she wakes up she questions her father’s idea of protectiveness. Jesse doesn’t understand why her dad always has to go to such a dark place to protect her. As soon as Jesse is okay, she leaves a message on the watch to say she is leaving to explore Earth-1 and see where she fits. We then see Jesse board a bus to Opal City and asks her father not to try and find her. Something tells me that the V9 in Jesse will result in her becoming a speedster as she is supposed to be Jesse Quick.

After Trajectory left STAR Labs, she starts to run back and forth on a bridge to get it to collapse and kills hundreds of people. The Flash manages to rescue the people before a portion of the bridge collapses. In order to catch up to Trajectory, Barry manages to get fast enough to cross the gap in the bridge when he couldn’t with the canyon. When the Flash takes out Trajectory, he tries to stop her from taking more V9 and tells her Team Flash can help her as she is not well. But Trajectory takes the V9 and taunts the Flash about being faster than her. As Trajectory runs away, the Flash notices blue lightening around her and she then evaporates.

The next day, Iris has written a story about the Flash defeating Trajectory. Scott apologizes to Iris about being wrong about the Flash. Iris apologizes too about the other night and says that hating the Flash isn’t a deal breaker. It looks like those two are going to get together and it is all kinds of wrong considering Scott is Iris’ boss. I know that Lois dated her boss in season 7 of Smallville but they acknowledged it was wrong. Hope The Flash does so too.

Back at STAR Labs, when Barry mentions seeing blue lightening just as Trajectory evaporated, Team Flash realizes that she was dying just like Zoom, which is why he wanted the Flash’s speed. A light bulb moment appears on Cisco and admits to vibing about Zoom every time he gets near Jay’s helmet. Barry smashes the helmet from his case and gives it to Cisco to vibe. When Cisco does, he sees that Zoom is Jay. No one can believe that since they saw Jay get killed by Zoom but like last year, we know that a speedster can be in two places at once.

Barry is upset at being betrayed again by someone he trusted and runs to the dam from the beginning of the episode to scream.

Too bad that this episode didn’t set up the Supergirl cross over on Monday as that would have been cool but I think this gets explained on the April 5 episode.
