Marvel’s Agent Carter Season 2 “Better Angels” Recap

Apologies for the lack of recapping the first two episode of season 2 of Marvel’s Agent Carter but time got on my side. But basically, Peggy was sent to LA, discovered Zero Matter, found a potential new love interest in Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin) and Dottie Underwood is still on the loose. Also, Sousa has a new love interest and Thompson is still an ass.
Also, that Zero Matter reminds of the black goo that was in season 1 of Agents of SHIELD that sucked up Professor Quirell or Ian Hart the actor that guest starred in that episode. Is it the same substance? If so, let me know in the comments.

We open up episode three at Wilkes’ home. Peggy and Sousa make their way through the throngs of press to go inside. What the two find there is evidence that points to Wilkes being a Russian spy. Peggy believes Isodyne planted it all to put the blame of the explosion on him.
On set of a Western film that Stark is directing, Peggy and Jarvis show up to ask for his help. Stark views the Zero Matter film and notes the pin found at Wilkes’ is for the Arena Club. Peggy wonders why Dottie Underwood had that pin too.
In her dressing room, Whitney Frost is look at her Zero Matter cut. When some black goo gets on her fingers, she sees her skin absorb it instantly. Whitney’s husband, Chadwick shows her the paper that places the blame on Wilkes. Whitney suggests that maybe she quit acting but Chadwick tells her that maybe they should wait after the senatorial election.
Meanwhile back at the LA SSR Bureau, Thompson has arrived to close the Isodyne case blaming Carter for the explosion. Carter and Sousa believe the case shouldn’t be closed. As Peggy storms off, we notice her keys and a pen start floating off her desk.
We later see Thompson watching the Zero Matter film and gets a visit from Vernon Masters (Kurtwood Smith). Masters wants Thompson to turn over sensitive evidence that Wilkes’ stole should he come across it. At first, Thompson denies knowing of such evidence but eventually gives the film to Masters who thanks him for doing the right thing.

Peggy then asks Stark’s help in getting into the Arena Club, which he does by inviting a whole bunch of women to it as the concierge or head of membership is showing Stark and Jarvis around. This gives Peggy a change to plant bugs around the club. When Peggy enters the library she sees a whole bunch of men leave a secret room, Chadwick among them. Peggy enters the room and notices newspapers with tomorrow’s date on it stating a certain person was dropping out of the senate race. Someone enters the room and Peggy ducks underneath the table. Fortunately, Peggy manages to escape.
However, when Thompson finds out what Peggy did, he is livid. Peggy tells Thompson about the newspaper she found and how the Arena Club is fixing an election. Unfortunately for Peggy, she culdn’t retrieve the newspapers and her bugs got compromised.
Thompson wants Peggy to drop the case and she calls him a coward for not wanting to ruffle feathers. Thompson orders Peggy back to New York. As Peggy starts to leave the office, Sousa talks to Peggy and says she shouldn’t blame herself for what happened to Wilkes. But Peggy does and as she is about to leave, Sousa notes items floating around her.
At Stark’s, he notes several lighter items floating around Peggy and notes her body temperature is similar to the lady in the lake, the detective and the medical examiner. Peggy worries that she will freeze to death but Stark says she isn’t. Stark works on a liquid that he sprays around Peggy to reveal Wilkes but he isn’t tangible.
Wilkes tries to talk but can’t until Stark sprays his throat. Wilkes explains what happened and how Whitney Frost there but then he disappears again. Stark lists items for Jarvis to get to help with Wilkes and notes that he and Peggy make a great team, which he concurs.

Peggy goes to see Whitney who denies being there but Peggy knows better. Later that night Whitney acts all frightened of her encounter with Peggy and wants Chadwick to do something about it. Chadwich doesn’t think it necessary to call in Hunt the hit man but when Whitney mentions pissing off the council them Hunt is called.
Peggy is working out her aggression on a punching bag. After Jarvis wishes her a good night, Hunt comes behind Peggy to strangle her but she manages to get them to fall in the pool. Jarvis helps in the fight and Peggy gets shots off and hits Hunt in the hand but he still manages to get away.
In the morning, Jarvis sets up a new security system with his voice telling people to go away. Jarvis vows not to be a disembodied voice, which is a nod to J.A.R.V.I.S in the Iron Man and The Avengers films.
When Peggy goes to see how Stark is getting on, she learns that he is off to Peru to see an old professor that can help. Wilkes is visible again but still not tangible. Wilkes wants to leave as he believes he is endangering everyone. Peggy convinces Wilkes to stay.
Just before Thompson returns to New York, Masters takes him to the Arena Club to meet Chadwick. When Masters hands Thompson the paper with the headline that Peggy mentioned, he knows something is up but keeps it quiet and instead toasts with the men about the upcoming election.
Back at the SSR, Sousa shows Peggy a file on a Agnes Cully the real name of Whitney Frost, who apparently invited some code breaking tech in World War II and is the actual brains behind Isodyne.
At episode’s end, we find ourselves back in Whitney’s dressing room. The director of her film, Ken, comes in to say the studio wants to replace her but he stepped in to say he would walk and he ended up saving her job. Whitney is grateful but Ken gets a little too close for comfort and she rebuffs him. When Ken notices the cut on her forehead and he demands to know what it is but she ends up sucking him up into her and her cut grows bigger.
I have not clue what that means but maybe Whitney absorbs that person’s memories or powers or something. Guess we will find out.
