DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 3 “Return of the Mack” Recap

It is London 1895 and out of the fog a young prostitute screams when she comes across a dead body. Out of the fog comes Rip Hunter, doing his best Sherlock Holmes impression to determine cause of the death. It appears that it was a vampire that was the killer.
Back on the Waverider, Ray has developed a serum that would disconnect the psychic bond that Jax and Martin share. It does work as Jax no longer craves grapefruit in the morning but there are consequences like short-term memory loss. Jax is more determined to break up Firestorm when he sees Martin sing a lullaby to baby Ronnie.
Nate then calls a team meeting to tell the Legends of one anachronism that is an outlier of all of them, which happens to be London 1895. When Mick hears that vampires could be involved, he gets all excited as he has been reading Dracula and always is carrying around a wooden stake.

Nate, Mick, Sara, Ray and Jax head over to the coroner’s office. Nate and Jax say they are from Scotland Yard (this allows Franz Drameh to use his native accent) while Sara, Ray and Mick are from the NYPD. The coroner finds it odd when Mick stabs the body and tells the Legends that Scotland Yard was already there and doesn’t believe Sara is from the NYPD. All of a sudden Mark Morrison’s “Return of the Mack” plays. Ray knows it is from a Palmer Tech smartwatch and sees the coroner wearing it. The coroner admits it came from a body that fell from the sky.
Soon enough Rip comes to the Legends asking for their help. Rip tells the group that a big threat called Mallus is collecting time displaced people for some unknown purpose and believes he is here in 1895 to get the time displaced vampire. Rip thinks a group called Order of the Compass is also involved.
Meanwhile, Amaya is trying to bond with Zari by explaining how they are connected. The only Zari wants to do is take the Waverider back to save her brother but everyone tells her that it is a bad idea to mess with time.
Back to 1895, Nate is used as bait to lure out the vampire. Nate is met with Sir Henry Stein, an actor and ancestor of Martin. Soon enough, Nate is chlorformed and taken away. Sara and Rip think they’ve come across the wagon that has Nate but it was just filled with potatoes.
When Nate comes through, he sees he is in some operating room and manages to alert the team. Nate sees a glass coffin that has a body inside and a henchman tells Nate that they are going to use his blood to resurrect the body inside. Nate gives the team a clue of his whereabouts when he mentions a blood red moon painting in the room.

So Sara, Mick, Rip, Amaya and Zari head to the Order of the Compass’ headquarters. Sara and Rip go to find Nate while Mick, Amaya and Zari stay behind to observer. However, Zari soon gets caught up with the evening’s performance of a fortune teller named Elenor (Courtney Ford). Eleanor gathers some people around a table including Zari to say she can communicate with the dead. Zari is skeptical but becomes a believer when Eleanor starts to channel her brother who blames her cowardice as to why he is dead.
Ray and Jax investigate who the watch might have belonged to. The find the coroner’s fingerprints, Ray’s fingerprints, an unknown fingerprint and Oliver Queen’s. A quick time call to Curtis who determines the unknown fingerprint belongs to Damien Darkh. Something our Legends also find out after Sara and Rip rescue Nate.
Sara is ready to kill Darkh bur Rip needs to keep him alive in order to draw out Mallus. The two agree to disagree on this matter.
Back on the Waverider, Martin discovers what Jax and Ray have been up to. Jax admits he wants to break up Firestorm so he can go back to his family and he can stay on the ship. Amaya tries to talk to Zari about what happened at the Order of Compass but she isn’t in the talking mood. And Rip initiates a protocol that prevents the Legends from leaving the ship so he can go rogue and see the rise of Darkh.
Sara is pissed at Rip for locking them up on the Waverider but Amaya notices that Zari is missing. Zari has gone back to Elenor so that she can speak to her brother again. Elenor tells Zari that she needs something of her brother’s so she can create a connection. Zari gives up her totem but this is what Elenor wanted all this time.

Zari is taken captive to watch Darkh get resurrected. Rip arrives as well as Time Bureau agents. Rip asks to speak to Mallus and he does through Elenor. Mallus uses the blood moon and resurrects Darkh. All hell breaks loose as Darkh and Elenor use their powers to slaughter the Time Bureau agents. Darkh is about to kill Rip is rescued by the Legends who figured out a way to by pass Rip’s protocol. Darkh and Elenor escape.
Back on the Waverider, Sara alerted the Time Bureau about Rip’s unauthorized mission and he is taken into custody. Rip tries to plea to Sara to help him face Mallus but this falls on deaf hears. Sara gets assurances from Agent Sharpe that the Legends are free to do what they do best.
