The Flash Season 4 “Girls Night Out” Recap

It is Barry’s and Iris’ respective bachelor and bachelorette parties and both don’t go exactly as planned. This episode is reminiscent of Smallville season 10’s “Fortune” in so much that it also featured Lois and Clark’s bachelor/bachelorette party where that also went awry. That particular episode was a bit silly but “Girls Night Out” was pretty funny and action packed.

Let’s get to the action. Felicity has come from Star City to partake in the festivities and comes just in time to meet Ralph Dibny and can’t even handle his stretching powers. Prior to Felicity’s arrival, Harry, Cisco and Barry are trying to figure out who Devoe is but with no luck aside from ID a baby with the last name of Devoe.
Barry’s Bachelor Party
What was supposed to be a night of Barry, Harry, Cisco and Joe just staying at home and watching old home movies of Barry and Iris when they were young turns into a wild night out thanks to Dibny. We did notice Joe’s face while he was watching the video come to realization that he is going to be an older dad.

Dibny decides to take the men to The Golden Booty, a strip club, where he is their #1 customer and he has his picture on the wall to creepily prove it. They all head to the bar for drinks but Barry laments how he can’t get drunk. Cisco tells Barry he has a solution to that problem and offers an elixir he has concocted that allows him to get drunk. As the night progresses, Dibny uses his stretching powers to steal money, Barry is drunkenly telling the club that he is the Flash and Joe finds out that Cecile’s daughter, Joanie, is a dancer at the strip club. Joanie explains that she is working there as research for a book she is writing but knows her mom would flip out if she ever finds out. Joe tells Joanie that he and her mom just wants what’s best for her.
Meanwhile, the club owner accuses Dibny of stealing and accidentally admits it and a bar brawl ensues that results in Cisco, Barry, Joe and Dibny thrown in jail. While in jail, Joe admits to Barry that he is scared at being a father at his age. Barry tells Joe he did a great job with Iris, him and Wally as a single parent but now he has Cecile and he will be more than fine.
Harry bails everyone out, including Dibny and thus concludes Barry’s bachelor party.
Throughout this episode, Gustin was hilarious as drunk Barry from his love of chicken wings to his lamenting why Rose didn’t let Jack on the door in Titanic.
Iris’ Bachelorette Party
Just before Iris and Felicity convince Caitlin to go out with them, we see that she has a ticket with Ferris Air to go somewhere.

Iris is hoping for a quiet dinner out with the girls and it starts out that way. They talk about Cecile’s pregnancy and the status of Olicity. However, things go quickly south when Norvok, the man that was threatening Caitlin in the season premiere, arrives at the ladies’ table. Everyone but Caitlin thinks he is a stripper and Felicity suggests he start taking off his clothes but instead his eye falls out in her champagne glass and her reaction is typical Felicity.
A snake-like creature emerges from Norvok’s eye hole and starts to terrorize the ladies and the restaurant with it. Killer Frost emerges to save the day and they all head back to Star Labs.

There Killer Frost tells Iris that Caitlin is gone and she is now in control. Killer Frost changes out of Caitlin’s clothes and into something more appropriate for her. Killer Frost takes off and Felicity tracks her cold signature to a club. Cecile, Iris and Felicity go to the club and see people getting high off a liquid glowing drug. Iris sees Norvok and follows him. Iris sees a confrontation between Killer Frost and Amunet (Katee Sackhoff). Here we learn that Killer Frost was Amunet’s muscle. Amunet needs Killer Frost to protect her latest assest, a metahuman that she has chained up at a back of a truck. What is special about this meta is that his tears are like a love drug.
Killer Frost refuses and we get a meta showdown but Iris stands between them and they all walk away. Amunet lets them get away but we no not for long.
Back at Star Labs, Killer Frost is attempting to leave again and this time she will use another breacher friend to go to another universe for a fresh start.
Killer Frost goes to meet her friend but ends up meeting Amunet and their meta showdown happens. We see Amunet always carry around a bag of loose metal and we see why. Amunet uses it to make a gauntlet that shoots out sharp metal. They trade ice and metal but eventually Amunet takes Killer Frost down and starts to severely punch her with the gauntlet that Killer Frost turns back into Caitlin. The police arrive distracting Amunet enough that Iris et al. escape with Caitilin.

At STAR Labs, Iris is helping patch Caitlin up and we learn that the cure didn’t quite work. When Caitlin learn that Team Flash needed help to get Barry back that she looked at it as a chance to make amends. Caitlin then tells Iris about Amunet and what she did for her. Iris wants to know why Caitlin didn’t tell her about all of this as she thought they were friends. Caitlin tells Iris that they aren’t really friends but just work friends.
Thanks for Felicity, the ladies manage to track Amunet so they can save the meta that Iris’ names Weeper. Caitlin tells Iris that she needs to stay behind or she will be a liability.
At a warehouse, we see Amunet sell Weeper to an Asian business man who gets high on his tears. Iris and Felicity with their STAR Labs weapons are waiting for the right moment to act but that never comes as they are found out by the Asian man’s goons.
But all is not lost as Killer Frost arrives and we get take three of their meta showdown. Thanks to Cecile, who in the van outside, turns on the warehouse’s magnets to take Amunet’s gauntlet. Killer Frost creates an icicle and is about to kill Amunet but Iris reaches out to the Caitlin in her and she stops.
The ladies free Weeper but he doesn’t see at all grateful as he immediately takes off.
At the end of the evening, the ladies and men come back to STAR Labs and admit their evening did not go as planned. Also, the guys see Killer Frost in their midst again (Dibny seems to like her) and turns back into Caitlin (Dibny was disappointed in this) and she then tells the guys what has happened to her.
Later, Iris and Caitlin cement their friendship beyond work when Iris asks Caitlin to be her maid of honor (should be matron since she was already married), which she happily accepts.
As the episode ends, we see Weeper being chased and it is the Thinker who tells him that he isn’t done with him yet until he does what he is supposed to be done and zaps him.
And how deliciously scene chewing was Sackhoff as Amunet. With Killer Frost letting her get away means we will see Amunet again.
