We open in Seattle 2042 and we learn there is an anti-metahuman curfew during this time. We also see an ARGUS truck transporting a prisoner, Zari Tomaz (Tala Ashe). Also after her is Kuasa who uses her water powers to gain entry and kill the ARGUS guards. Time Bureau Agent Gary witnesses all of this and sends out a code 99 distress call that the Legends receive.

The Legends arrive and retrieve Gary who shows them the video and explains his mission to try and capture a rogue time traveler. Gideon locates Zari but she uses an ARGUS drone the hacked to alert ARGUS about our Legends. Seemingly to have surrounded, Sara, Mick, Ray and Nate manage to take them down.

Back on board, the Legends learns that Zari has quite the criminal record that include computer hacking and religious infractions. Zari is a Muslim and religion is outlawed in 2042. Also metahumans were declared illegal in 2021 and ARGUS has become a corrupt organization.

Mick manages to find Zari at a bar he used to frequent. Also at this bar is Kuasa but Sara confronts her and the two fight. Eventually, Mick causes a bar fight that creates a diversion so they can whisk Zari to the Waverider.

Once on board, Gary isn’t happy that Zari is being exposed to future tech and time travel. Zari is surprised to hear about who her rescuers are. Also, Zari has no clue who is after but agrees to be used as bait if the Legends help break her brother out of an ARGUS Black Site. Mick is totally up for a prison break.

When they arrive at the ARGUS site, Mick, Sara and Zari go and find out where her brother is being kept while Ray and Jax go an open that location. Ray and Jax see that ARGUS are experimenting on meta humans and decide to free all the prisoners. Soon enough the Legends learn there was no brother but Zari needed to break in to steal a necklace and she activates it to get away by flying away. Ray, in his ATOM suit, follows Zari.

Meanwhile, Amaya found sleeping walking in the kitchen roof as a spider and is still trying to fix her totem. Martin thinks something medical is wrong with with her. Amaya tells Martin and Nate it is mystical and it all has to do with the totem and its history. Nate thinks they should travel back in time to speak to Amaya ancestors to learn the history of the totem but she thinks that it is a bad idea.

Nata uses a Zambise root to elicit hallucinations so Amaya can have a vision quest. Nate and Amaya drink the tea and go to meditate. However, when Zari activated her necklace, this caused Amaya’s totem to glow and she starts having visions of Zambise and goes into a coma. Nate on this tea is hilarious.

In the coma, Amaya is in Zambise and meets an elder who tells her the totem is acting up because there is a threat that is becoming more powerful. The elder tells Amaya that her mission is to protect the girl (i.e. Zari), the elder also told her to trust the power of the totem.

Ray eventually tracks Zari down at a destroyed camp site. It was the rendezvous point where Zari was to meet her parents but they aren’t there. Zari explains how her brother used the power of the necklace to fight ARGUS but got killed. Zari was caught trying to steal the necklace back. Kuasa finds Zari and Ray alerts Sara about Kuasa.

Before they can get to Ray, a Time Bureau ship arrives because Gary alerted them. Agent Sharpe wants to clean up the mess the Legends have created and wants the coordinates of Ray. Ray, meanwhile, tries to fight Kuasa who uses her water powers to try and drown Ray. Zari tells Kuasa to stand down by showing the necklace.

Kuasa tries to make a deal wit Zari that she looks tempted but doesn’t accept.

Back on the Waverider, Jax, Amaya and Mick escape in the time ship to help Ray while Sara won’t stand down from Agent Sharpe. Sara won’t let the time bureau put Zari back into the hands of ARGUS and plays a game of chicken by directing the Waverider straight to the Time Bureau ship. The Time Bureau ship blinks first and jumps away.

Mick, Jax and Amaya make it to Ray and Zari. Kuasa confronts them and Amaya steps in and uses the power of the totem to take down Kuasa. Just before Kuasa disappears, she says the following “I’d kill you but I would just be killing myself.”

Later, Agent Sharpe tells Sara that the Time Bureau will no longer be lenient on the Legends and the next time they screw up, they will be severely punished. As the call ends, Gideon calls Sharpe a bitch.

With Amaya totem working again, Nate fears she will leave again but she assures him that she can’t as her fate is intertwined with Zari’s. Nate informs Amaya that Zari is being dropped off to Seattle 2042.

Amaya catches with Zari and explains how their totems are linked and invites her to the team. Mick asks whether she rather stay in 2042 and be hunted or come with them and do something stupid and time travel. It seems the latter wins Zari over and she accepts Amaya’s offer.

We then go to Ivy Town 1988 and a young boy is being chased on his bike by bullies. This young boy makes into a drain pipe and meets a creature in it. The young boy holds out his hand and introduces himself as Ray Palmer.
