Last week, channel 52 revealed an exclusive photo that unmasked Oliver a the Green Arrow. The next day, the press is on him asking about the photo. So Oliver doing damage control insists the photo was doctored and suggests that Bruce Wayne has left Gotham and headed to Star City to become the Green Arrow.

Rene and Quentin get the original photograph so Felicity and Curtis can determine who might have sent it.

Meanwhile, Oliver wants to concentrate on mayoral duties which includes using the $20 million insurance payout to rebuild the SCPD and hosting Markovian delegates on investing in Star City.

Team Arrow determines that the photo possibly came from an internal employee at channel 52 and believe that this was one final thing Chase did to stick it to Oliver.

During the Markovian tour, Oliver is still hounded by questions of being the Green Arrow. Oliver wants to keep the focus on the Markovians but the tour gets cut short one they are confronted by gun fire. Oliver, Quentin, the Markovian executives and reports head into a van and almost escapes.

Oliver then meets face to face with Anatoly who is behind the photo and has taken the Markovians hostage.

When they get back to City Hall, Quentin and Oliver are doing more damage control from the media. Both learn that Anatoli is asking for $20 million in ransom, which happens to be the insurance payment amount. For Oliver, all of that has to wait when gets a call from William’s school indicating he was in a fight.

On the limo ride home, William (who has a Flash backpack) was being picked on for his Dad being the Green Arrow. Oliver offers some tips on how to fight but before he can offer anymore, Curtis and Felicity lets him know they’ve located the Markovians and the Bratva at a Bratva Russian restaurant.

When Team Arrow arrives, Dinah notices Diggle hesitating using his gun again. Earlier, Dinah was still on Diggle to reveal what is wrong with him but he still is not telling the truth.

The team eventually free three Markovian executives but notice one is missing- the CEO Tarkov.

As the team works on trying to find Tarkov, Oliver has to meet Rene and Quentin to deal with FBI agent Samanda Watson, who is investigating the possibility that Oliver is the Green Arrow. However, Oliver doesn’t make the meeting because of William. Rene and Quentin do their best to hold off Agent Watson’s investigation.

When Oliver gets home, he finds William beating up on his Flash backpack. William is mad that Oliver just left him alone and is afraid that his ]life as the Green Arrow will take Oliver away from him making him an orphan. Oliver promises William that he will always come home to him.

Again, Oliver can’t continue to comfort his son as he receives a phone call from Anatoli. Anatoly tells Oliver that he has been kicked out of Bratva because of his friendship and needs money. Anatoli tells Oliver they are no longer friends and has given a facial toxin to Tarkov. Anatoly wants the money in exchange of for the cure.

Curtis determines exactly what toxin Anatoly used and that a cure is available at Starling General. Dinah and Diggle go to collect the cure from Dr. Schwartz. While getting the cure it is obvious Dr. Schwartz knows what ails Diggle. And finally, Diggle lets Dinah in on what is wrong with him. Diggle has degenerative nerve damage from getting shrapnel caught in his shoulder from the Lian Yu explosion. Dinah wants Diggle to tell Oliver as this compromises him in the field and could put everyone in danger as it did with Rene in the season premiere. However, Diggle gets Dinah to keep a lid on his injury.

Eventually, Curtis and Felicity trace Anatoly and his gang at a shipyard. When Dinah is put in a chokehold by one of Anatoly’s men, Diggle can’t take the shot. Thankfully, Dinah gets of danger on her own but gives Diggle a pissed off look.

Oliver finds Tarkov and shoots an arrow with the cure into his shoulder. But Anatoly ends up killing him anyways because he didn’t get his ransom. Oliver wonders what happened to his friend and thinks he has gone evil. Anatoly maintains he is a good man and could have tortured his son but instead asked for money he knew he had. Before Anatoly parts (knowing Oliver wouldn’t kill him), he tells Oliver that he did not leak the photo of him to the press.

The next day, Oliver finally meets with Agent Watson and he then asks not involve his son. Watson does not appreciate being told how to run her investigation. But the investigation is halted because a news report clears Oliver as the Green Arrow as they go proof the photo was doctored.

Oliver then comes home early to apologize to William for lying to him about promising to always come back. But Oliver says he is working on something that will ensure he will come back. Oliver also promises to be a better father.

At the Arrow Cave, Diggle apologizes to Dinah for putting her in danger and promises to tell Oliver about his injury. Before Diggle can say anything, Oliver asks Diggle to take over being the Green Arrow so he can keep his promise to William. Diggle agrees to be the new Green Arrow but doesn’t not reveal his injury.

Let’s see how long Diggle as the Green Arrow will last but most likely Oliver will the GA again in time for the crossover.
