After almost a month off The Flash returns and we are getting closer to finding out who Savitar is.

But first, we open with Barry figuring out that he needs to travel to 2024 and ask his future self who is Savitar. When Barry shares his idea with Iris, he is met with silence. Iris is lost in thought at what will happen to her family if or when she dies. Iris tries to get Barry to promise to be there for her dad and Wally when she is gone. Barry doesn’t want to make that promise because he is going to save Iris. Eventually, Barry does promise Iris that he will be there for her family so they don’t lose their way.

Meanwhile, Killer Frost is loose and Julian, Cisco and HR are running for their lives. Just when it looks like the three will be iced, Barry gets there in time to push Killer Frost away and she runs off and his in the wind.

Barry tells Team Flash is plan on going to the future and with Wally’s help, he ends up in 2024. Once Barry arrives, he is met by Mirror Master and Top who kick his ass in an alley. Vancouver filming note: This alley is across the street from my work, which is near BC Place Stadium. I actually saw this scene being filmed from a nearby parking lot.

Mirror Master and Top are surprised to see the Flash back in action considering he has been MIA for months. Eventually, Barry gets away and goes to his and Iris’ apartment. The apartment looks abandoned and among the ruins is the family photo album that Iris was looking at in 2017. Cisco arrives and is so happy to see Barry and knows he is from the past.

Cisco then brings Barry to an abandoned STAR Labs to find his future self. Barry learns from Cisco that there is no Team Flash since Iris died. Once Barry meets his future self, he sees that he is sporting an emo hair cut. Future Barry tells his past self that he doesn’t know who Savitar is and he should go back to 2017 and spend as much time as possible with Iris because she will die.

Barry decides to go back to the past empty-handed. Cisco doesn’t want him to go and wants him to stay and help stop Mirror Master and Top. Barry still wants to go and attempts to but finds he can’t. Barry thinks Top did something to him and Cisco doesn’t dispute the fact. Barry decides to find out what happened to the rest of Team Flash. We learn that in Vibe’s fight against Killer Frost, she froze his hands causing them to shatter. Cisco now sports robotic hands and has lost his Vibe powers.

Cisco and Barry goes to see Julian who is a lab and is taking care of a captured Killer Frost. We learn that Caitlin aligned herself with Savitar because he helped her embrace her powers instead of trying to cure them. Barry asks Caitlin who is Savitar but she refuses to tell him.

We then go to the West household to see what happened to Wally. Cisco tells Barry that Wally confronted Savitar but ended up with a broken spine and in a catatonic state.

We next see Barry visit Joe at the cemetery and we see that Future Barry didn’t keep his promise. Joe doesn’t quite understand why Barry is there now to there for him.

Barry then goes to confront Future Barry in the time vault to yell at him for not keeping his promise to Iris. Future Barry says that he was broken once he lost Iris that he just pushed everyone away. Even capturing Savitar in the speed force later did not help heal is broken heart.

Cisco then admits to Barry that he stopped him from going to the past as he hoped he would stay and reunite the team. Barry was about to leave but changed his mind. So Cisco and Barry reunite Team Flash by taking HR from a reading of his latest romance novel at HR Jitters (he apparently owns the joint in the future), Julian from his lab, and Joe from Wally’s bedside. Past Barry tells the gang that he won’t break his promise to Iris and that he should have kept them as a family. Team Flash is back and ready to capture Mirror Master and Top. However, when Top and Mirror Master use their powers together. past Flash gets overwhelmed. Cisco realizes they can use the device he made to stop past Barry from returning to 2017, to dampen Mirror Master and Top’s powers. Future Barry decides to rejoin society and help. We get the two Flashes (one sporting a new suit that reminds me of one of the Flash suits in the Injustice video game).

Future Flash is ready to be part of Team Flash and takes past Barry words to heart. Before Barry leaves, Future Barry tells his past self that he trapped Savitar in the speed force with the help of Tracy Brand. The bad news is the technology do that only gets invited 4 years after Iris died.

Future Barry gives some sort of USB key that contains Tracy Brand’s information. Past Barry has track Tracy down and get her to understand the information within. Team Flash is reconciled and Barry returns to 2017.

Barry tells Team Flash that he doesn’t know who Savitar is but has a lead on how to trap him in the Speed Force. Barry also tells Team Flash that Caitlin aligns himself with Savitar.

We then see Caitlin walking in the snow and is met by Savitar who has been waiting for her. Savitar wants to help Caitlin who wants to know why she should trust him. We then see Savitar emerge from his metal shell to reveal his true self. Caitlin easily agrees to help Savitar.

So who is Savitar? From the looks of him when he stepped out of the suite, he is a snappy dresser.
