Superhero News Roundup: Casting News for The Flash, Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl

We’ve been taking it easy this summer as we enjoy the sun but we take a break from our break to report on a slew of casting news that has come out from our favorite shows like The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl

The Flash

The big one to come out this summer was Tom Felton joining the show for its third season in a series regular role. The Harry Potter alum sees the erstwhile Draco Malfoy playing the role of Julian Dorn, another CSI at the Central City Police Department who has suspicions about Barry Allen.

The Flash returns Tuesday October 4, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

With the departure of Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), their two empty seats on the Waverider have been filled by Maisie Richardson-Sellers. According to TVLine, Richardson-Sellers will be playing Vixen but not the one that appeared on Arrow but her grandmother, Amaya Jiwe. Joining Richarson-Selllers as also a series regular is Nick Zano as Dr. Nate Heywood aka Commander Steel.

At San Diego Comic Con 2016, executive producer Marc Guggenheim announced that the Legion of Doom will be coming to season 2. The Legion of Doom will be comprised of the Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough and Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman).

To help fight the Legion of Doom, we will see other members of the Justice Society of America. The yet to be cast Dr. Mid-Nite, Obsidian and Star Girl (last seen on screen on Smallville as played by Britt Irvin)

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premieres Thursday October 13, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT.

Arrow

Arrow has been quite busy with the casting for season 5. In addition to Echo Kellum becoming a series regular, we have Rick Gonzalez recurring as Wild Dog who TVLine reports is a cocksure ex-Marine turned vigilante. His reckless nature prompts the Green Arrow to take him under his wing.

Tyler Ritter will be playing Detective Malone. EW.com describes the character as a new cop at the Star City Police Department.

Chad L. Coleman is the new villain, Tobias Church that EW.com says wants to unite various criminal organizations in Star City under his command.

Madison McLaughlin will reprise her role as Evelyn Sharp, who appeared in season 4’s “Canary Cry”.

Josh Segarra joins season 5 also as a series regular as Adrian Chase, Star City’s new district attorney that also moonlights as a vigilante called Vigilante.

Also, Carly Pope will play Susan Williams, a reporter new to Star City that investigates Oliver Queen. According to EW.com, in the comic books, Susan Williams is the wife of Jim Jordan, the younger brother of the Green Lantern, Hal Jordan.

Blindspot’s Joe Dinicol will recur as Rory Ragman aka Ragman. EW.com exclusively revealed that Rory hopes to find answers in Star City, where he ultimately crosses paths with Green Arrow.

Arrow season 5 premieres Wednesday October 5, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT.

Supergirl

The biggest news for Supergirl is not only is it moving to the CW but also will now film in Vancouver. Also, aside from Tyler Hoechlin joining the cast as Superman, we have Ian Gomez joining the show as Snapper Carr. The Felicity alum will be Kara’s new boss at CatCo. Cat hires Snapper Carr to be the new editor-in-chief. With Gomez now Kara’s boss, how much will we see of Calista Flockhart’s Cat?

We also have Lynda Carter, TV’s original Wonder Woman, will be playing Supergirl’s president of the United States.

Meanwhile, The Family’s Floriana Lima will be playing the series regular role of Maggie Sawyer, a National City Police Department detective. On Smallville, Maggie Sawyer was played by Jill Teed.

Finally, Containment’s Chris Wood will be playing the a mysterious role in season 2 that was later confirmed at San Diego Comic Con 2016 as the thing in the pod that Kara opens at the end of season 1.

Supergirl season 2 premieres Monday October 10, 2106 at 8pm ET/PT.
