It is the penultimate episode of Supergirl’s first season and Myriad is in full swing. We see that Lucy and the DEO are under the control of Non who has ordered her to release all the Fort Rozz prisoners with the exception of the white martian. One such prisoner is Maxima, Queen of Almerac who when released goes on to attack the DEO agents and Lucy. Maxima mentions that she could have had Superman as her mate. When it looks like Maxima is going to kill Lucy, she mentions pledging allegiance to Non so they can rule Earth together. This peaks Maxima’s interest and she takes off. I have to mention Maxima’s appearance on Smallville. The character appeared in season 8’s “Instinct” in that episode she had a killer kiss and if you died when she kissed you the you weren’t her soul mate. Jimmy unfortunately fell victim to Maxima. Clark on the other hand survived her kiss and just when it looked like they were going to take things further, Lois comes on the scene and breaks her spell, something that never happens. The fight scene between Maxima and Lois is funny. The end result of Maxima’s appearance on Smallville is planting the seeds that Lois was jealous of Maxima and that the spell was broken because Clark had feelings for Lois.

Okay, side bar over. Supergirl arrives at the DEO to stop Maxima from escaping. Kara gets disgusted when Maxima suggested they could have been family. Maxima does escape as the DEO starts shooting kryptonite bullets at Supergirl, with one grazing her arm. Supergirl tries to talk some sense into Lucy but she is too far gone into Myriad that she is forced to use her spaceship to disarm them so she can escape. Before doing so, she stops all the Fort Rozz prisoners from being released.

After removing the bullet from her arm, Kara heads straight to the Fortress of Solitude looking for Kal-el. Calex tells Kara that Kal-el is off world. When Kara asks Calex about Myriad, the robot doesn’t want to talk about it. Kara demands to know what is Myriad and is fed up why people won’t talk about it. Calex goes away and Alura’s AI appears to tell Kara all about Myriad, which basically is mind control to stop ecological disaster. Astra and Non tried to use it on Krypton and now want to use it on Earth

When Supergirl arrives at CatCo, she sees everyone that works on her floor as autonomous drones typing away some Kryptonian code on their computers. Winn, James and Kelly are among the three that Supergirl notes that are drones.

You know who isn’t under the control of Myriad? Cat Grant, who waltzes in her office as usual asking Kara to call Harrison Ford to stop calling her as while flattered she doesn’t date older married men. Of course this is a meta joke as in real life Calista Flockhart is married to the Star Wars star.

Supergirl is confused as to how Cat is not under mind control but before she can investigate further, Clark texts Kara to let her know he is on his way. Unfortunately, when Superman does come into National City, he gets under the control of Myriad.

Unfortunately for Kara the only other person not under Myriad is Maxwell Lord. Lord developed a ion blocker that prevents Myriad from controlling him. Lord developed it after Non stole his satellite which he new were going to be used to blast out Myriad. And Cat is immuned because of earrings that Lord gave her and she decided to wear that day. Lord theorizes that Superman was affected by Myriad because he grew up on Earth thus has a brain like a human.

Outside of National City is General Sam Lane who declares on the news that the city is under quarantine.

Meanwhile, Non is with Indigo in his home base and is pleased that Myriad is working. Non notes to Indigo that after National City, he will target Metropolis, Opal City and Central City. Indigo thinks Non is thinking too small and suggests he go bigger and conquer the universe.

Back at CatCo, Non comes to talk to Kara, which doesn’t exactly go well.

Later, Lord calls General Lane to secure nuclear weapons. Lord plans on throwing bombs in the air that will release Kryptonite gas killing all the Kryptonians. However, the bomb will kill over 300,000 people of National City, something that doesn’t not sit well with Cat or Supergirl. However, Cat is surprised that Supergirl is willing to follow Lord’s plan.

As night falls, Winn and James start to speak to Myriad’s plans and ask Supergirl to let it happen. To get Supergirl to comply, Non compels, Winn, James and Kelly to leap off the balcony. Supergirl is only able to save Winn and James. James then just tells Kara to accept that Myriad is happening.

Supergirl is on Cat’s balcony not sure what to do next. Cat comes out and tells Supergirl that she has changed her and the one thing she has given her is hope and she shouldn’t lose hope either. Supergirl gives Cat a hug and has an idea of what to do. Supergirl goes to Lord to say she will give people hope to break Myriad’s mind control and not use his nuclear option.

Meanwhile, while all that is happening in National City, a Greyhound bus is stopped at a police blockade. Officers come on board looking for Alex and Hank. Two passengers on board are a blond woman and her son. Her young son seeks comfort from his mom as the police officers pass. We know these two to be Hank and Alex. The police offers say the bus is clear and the two are safe.

Alex and Hank head off to Alex’s house. Eliza is surprised to see her daughter and wonders who the young boy is. The young boy turns into Hank and Eliza is angry at Alex for bringing her husband’s killer into her home. Alex explains that Hank is J’onn J’onzz and is the alien that Jeremiah save and was with him when he died. Alex explains that J’onn is a shapeshifter. J’onn tells Eliza that her husband was a good husband. Eliza then tells Alex about what is happening at National City.

Later when Eliza and J’onn are alone, Eliza asks like a million questions about J’onn and his shapeshifting abilities. J’onn sees that mother and daughter are exactly alike. When J’onn sees that Alex is preparing to go to National City to help Kara, J’onn tries to stop her and says he can go since he is an alien and his mind won’t be affected. But Alex manages to convince J’onn to let her go with him as he can use his powers to shield her mind. Just before Alex leaves, she is about to tell her mom about her dad being alive but J’onn stops her.

When J’onn and Alex arrive in National City, they are confronted by Indigo who knocks out Alex. Indigo and J’onn fight and Indigo stabs J’onn in the gut and he turns into his Martian form. When J’onn fall unconscious, Alex becomes under the control of Myriad and is brought to Non.

Back in National City, Supergirl, Cat and Lord head over to an old broadcast studio of Cat’s. Lord hopes to uses the old broadcast technology to hopefully send a signal out that will counteract Myriad. While that is happening, Supergirl gets called outside and sees Alex in a Kryptonite suit and wields the sword that killed Astra. Non is speaking through Alex and eggs Supergirl on to fight Alex. Supergirl doesn’t want to fight her sister, something Indigo knew would come into play. However, when Alex comes at Kara with the sword, this forces her to battle her sister but we end the episode and only the season finale will we see what happens.
