DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 1 Episode 9 “Left Behind” Recap

We pretty much pick up where we left off the last episode with the Wave Rider under attack from Chronos forcing the team to leave behind Ray, Kendra and Sara.

10 minutes later, Ray is holding out hope that the team will com back. But Kendra and Sara tell him to give up and Sara steals a car so they can take off. 10 days later, the three found an apartment in Hub City. Ray is using pieces of his Atom suit to build a time beacon. Sara suggests that they all get proper furniture. 10 weeks later, the apartment is fully furnished with Sara and Kendra playing the game of Life and Ray putting the finishing touches on his time beacon. Unfortunately, the time beacon blows up but Ray remains determined. Sara wonders why Kendra hasn’t talked sense into Ray so she does so. Sara tells Ray to give up and just move on with their lives. Sara packs up her bag to go to the only place where it felt like home.

Back on the Wave Rider, Chronos attacks Rip and Snart while Stein and Jax were ordered to leave with the time ship. But Stein doesn’t want to leave the team so the two become Firestorm to stop Chronos. But Chronos has knocked out Rip and taken Snart hostage. Before Rip can go after Snart, Chronos reprogrammed the ship so it would stay in the temporal zone forever. So Rip has to reboot Gideon causing the Wave Rider to free fall through time.

We then fast forward to two years later. Ray has become a university professor teaching nuclear science. One his students happens to be the father of Bill Gates. Ray here looks very much like how Brandon Routh looked like in Superman Returns as Clark Kent, suit and glasses and all.

LGN109A_0005b_74aaffa4-1024x675Kendra visits his class and they then go on a picnic to celebrate their two year anniversary. Ray has given Kendra the time beacon as a gift so they can destroy it together. Ray also has an engagement ring for Kendra but before he can propose, the Wave Rider appears. Rip apologizes for being late. Knedra is happy to be back on the ship and the team. Kendra is also thrilled to ditch the 1960 garb to be back in jeans. Ray on the other hand isn’t so happy as he was content with the life he built with Kendra over the past two years. After a little detour to get the Atom suit, the team need to get Sara but Ray and Kendra don’t know where she went.

Kendra eventually figures out that Sara has gone back to the League of Assassins so the team head off to Nanda Parbat.

At Nanda Parbat, we see Sara training with the League under the tutelage of Ra’s Al Ghul as played by Matt Nable. Ra’s is impressed how fast Sara is learning League techniques. Also, it looks like Ra’s has cured Sara’s blood lust. And we get to meet Talia Al’ Ghul to boot

The team arrive at Nanda Parbat. Ray isn’t too happy to be back but Rip tells the team to wait while he gets Sara. I think it is hilarious that Rip just walks through the door with only one guard to confront the team but Jax took down.

When Rip goes to Sara’s room, she almost cuts his throat but stop when she sees it is him. Just when you think Sara will return to the team, she actually alerts the League to intruders.

The team is taken prisoner and Sara orders Stein and Jax to be separated and takes Ray’s Atom suit. While in the dungeon, Kendra admits that she hasn’t been able to hawk out for the past two years and that she really wasn’t that happy being stuck in the past. Since Rip has been studying the League for a while, he comes up with a way to perhaps get out of their predicament. Rip asks Ra’s for a trial by combat. Ra’s agrees and selects Sara to be his champion. Meanwhile, Rip selects Kendra overiding Ray’s request to be. Rip figures that Kendra can tap into Sara’s humanity.

LGN109C_0541b_d4bd4bef-1024x757The fight begins and Kendra does become Hawkgirl and manages to talk some sense into Sara by calling her the White Canary.

As for Snart, we learn that Chronos is Rory (which I totally called before the reveal) and we see what happened the last time we saw him. Apparently, the time masters saved Rory and took him to the Vanishing Point to train him. Rory is loving his role as Chronos and also tells that he wants to go to Central City so he can kills Lisa over and over again in front of Snart. Thankfully, the time ship alerts Rory to a time anomaly at Nanda Parbat so he adjusts course. While Rory is away, Snart uses his cold gun to freeze his hand so he can break free from his restraints.

At Nanda Parbat, Rory as Chronos starts shooting away League members and Sara tells Ra’s that he needs to set his friends free so they can help defeat Chronos. Ra’s doesn’t budge but eventually does when Rip says that his reign will be cut short if he doesn’t. Firestorm, the Atom, Hawkgirl and the White Canary take down Chronos. When the team is ready to kill Chronos, Snart arrives to tell them not to and Rory reveals himself.

Rory is in the brig and everyone is pissed at him for all the trouble he has caused them. But the team believes that Rory can be rehabilitated and be part of the team again. At the medical lab, Rip restores Snart’s hand.

In Ray’s room, Kendra wonders why he moved back in alone. Ray thought that she didn’t want to resume what they had. Kendra tells Ray that she did fall in love with him and that for the first time she got to choose who she wanted to be with and not have destiny choose her. The two kiss and looks like they get it on. But the engagement ring remains hidden. I have to believe that Hawman or Carter is going to return and this will cause a love triangle.

The team then plot a course for 2147 as that is where they can find Vandal Savage next.
