“How Does She Do It?” was the episode that was supposed to air last week but it was postponed due to the events that happened two weeks ago in Paris. After watching this episode, I can understand why.

A lot fo stuff that happened in “Livewire” like talk of Cat’s son and a seemingly reconciled James and Lucy going away for Thanksgiving, all starts in this episode.

Adventures in Babysitting

Cat has beaten Lois  Lane for the Siegel prize for the first time ever (in the Smallville universe, I think Lois would have a fit if Cat beat her for a journalism price). The award ceremony is in Metropolis but Cat can’t go as her mom is unable to babysit her son Carter (Levi Miller). When Kara offers to babysit, Cat thinks she wants a favor in return but agrees to have her look after her son. Cat mentions that Carter is a shy and gifted boy. When Kara goes to pick up Carter, he is shy at first but starts to open up a bit after Kara gets all nerdy. They further bond over his crush on Supergirl. Winn has to care for Carter while Kara deals with a Supergirl emergency and they too bond over video games.

I Want You Back

Lucy in National City on a JAG case but really it was a ruse to get James back. James tells Lucy that he moved away after she dumped him. Alex warns Kara not to talk to James about his relationship woes or she will be in the friend zone something she always is in and not the girlfriend zone. James is covering for Cat and is a bit overwhelmed. When James ignores a call from Lucy, he starts talking about their relationship but Kara keeps it all about work.

Lucy find Kara at the cafe and wonders if James is dating Supergirl. Kara laughs off that idea and Lucy says that work didn’t come between them but James always rushing off to help Superman and worries she can’t compete with Supergirl.

Jimmy and Lucy have a talk and both decide that perhaps they should all just move on.

The 6:15 to Danger

The episode opens with a drone following Kara. Kara thinks it is the DEO but Henshaw says it isn’t and will investigate who is after Supergirl. Alex says they can trust Henshaw but that’s before the events of “Livewire”.

A bomb goes off in a building that Supergirl saves from collapsing. We see a similar drone analyzing the scene. At the DEO, Alex sees the bomb and the drone were made from the same materials. The lab attacked making hi tech lithium batteries. Alex also sees tech used to make the drone and the bomb  belonged to Maxwell Lord.

Acting as FBI agents, Alex and Henshaw go to see Lord. After learning the lab also belonged to Lord, he denies anyone having a vendetta against him.

Alex and Lord seem to have some flirty vibe going when talk comes to why she works for government and not putting her brain for better use. Their conversation is cut short when they are alerted to a bomb in Lord’s lab. Lord is all cocky thinking he can diffuse it but he only makes it worse. Alex calls Supergirl who has to throw the bomb well above the city. It goes off safely but Kara is caught in the blast. Recovering back at the DEO in a sun tan bed, Kara sees Henshaw’s eyes go red.

The DEO determine taht Ethan Knox, an ex Lord employee is culprit behind the bombings and his next target is Lord’s new high speed train. Alex wants Lord to get the “FBI” to help but  hedoesn’t trust government since they covered up the death of his scientist parents.

Supergirl helps the DEO find Knox so she is is flying over the tran station but gets called away when there is bomb threat at airport.

James rushes to the airport after hearing of the threat as he  is worried since Lucy is there on her way back to Metropolis.

Winn is also at the train station to find Carter who has gone to the opening in hopes of meeting Supergirl. Acting lost, Lord takes Carter aboard and Winn notices Knox also on the train.

When Kara learns Carter and Knox is on board she decides to go back to save the train.

At the airport jimmy sees Lucy and tells her he came because she was there and the two hug and we see at episode’s end that the two have reconciled.

The DEO arrive and Alex can’t diffuse the bomb. Henshaw orders her to leave and he goes all red eyes and uses what I think his is Martian man Hunter powers to diffuse the bomb. Henshaw tells Alex that it was a dummy bomb used as a distraction. Back that the DEO Alex sees that Henshaw lied.

Meanwhile on board the train, Supergirl arrives and gets an awe stuck Carter and Lord to help move people safely to the back of the train. When Supergirl confronts Knox, he can’t be convinced to stop him from blowing up his suicide vest even when she brings up his sick daughter. Supergirl uses her heat vision to decouple the train and stops her part of the train as the car with Knox blows up.

The next day, Cat returns from Metropolis worried about Carter who is all smiles and gushes to his mom that he met Supergirl and how she is pretty in person. Not liking hearing her son objectifying Supergirl tries to get him to see her other qualities that make her a hero. When Carter is still superficial, we see that he is joking, something he hasn’t done before. After he goes off to school, Cat isn’t really that mad at Kara for what happened to Carter. Kara doesn’t know how Cat can do it all but she says you can but not all at once, it takes time.

When Kara sees Lord’s press conference on Knox, his crocodile tears and talk of fail safes triggers something in her.

Supergirl goes to see Lord in his office and we learn that he was behind everything to test her powers. Supergirl learns that Lord got Knox to plant all the bombs in exchange for treatment for his daughter. Lord wonders why Supergirl would chose to save a train with only a few hundred on board than the airport that has thousands. Lord deduces someone Supergirl cares about was on board and vows to find out who.

It looks like Supergirl’s nemesis is Lord and this scene was reminiscent to the one in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman when Lex was testing superman in season 1. It will be interesting to see this relationship move forward especially if Lord somehow becomes romantically involved with Alex or Cat as I was picking up some flirtatious vibes with both women.
