We get the return of Mama Smoak, some Olicity tension and Brandon Routh is back as Ray Palmer

We see what happened to Ray at the season 3 finale. When the top floor of Palmer Technologies explodes, we see a mini Ray and his suit tumbling down within the debris.

Island Flashback

Oliver takes Rieter and Conklin to the mystical cave that Constantine brought him last week. Rieter uses the orb to light up some ancient writing along the wall and asks Oliver if he knows where to find, I think coal, on the island. Oliver knows of the place and is tasked to bring workers to the location to get what he needs. Conklin, not trusting Oliver, is tagging along.

One of the workers demands a break and Oliver decides to break for lunch. Conklin asks this guy to do a job for him. We see Oliver go to the cave and give the lade some food. Oliver wonders is she knows what Rieter could be up too as he believes that he is on the island more for just drugs. The lady doesn’t know what Rieter is up to.

When Oliver returns, the guy attacks him and tries to drown him. Oliver manages to snap the guy’s neck while the workers and Conklin look on.

Thea

We see that Alex likes Thea and asks her out on a date as a pretext in scoping out a potential campaign announcement location. After the events of the episode, Thea decides to go out with Alex in her pursuit of a normal life.

Sara Lance 2.0

Sara talks to her mom who is relieved that she is still alive. Throughout the episode, we see that Sara’s bloodlust is out of control. Sara decides that she needs to find herself again so her first stop is to see her mom in Central City. Hope we see Caity Lotz pay a visit on The Flash.

Rescue Ray

Felicity is obsessed in finding Ray. But a visit by her mom, Donna, isn’t helping her. Felicity is even further pissed when she learns that Oliver orchestrated the visit.

At their loft, Felicity gets a video call from Ray and we see that he has shrunk himself. Eventually, Team Arrow gets their hands on Ray’s shrinking tech that could help re-size him. Curtis is tasked with building the tech but needs a piece of equipment that is at Kord Technologies, a rival of Palmer Tech. So Team Arrow with Sara goes to steal the tech. They manage to get what they need but another video message from Ray reveals that Darkh has him.

During a dinner party with Donna, tensions are high with Olicity. When Donna leaves to go get takeour (she ruined the dinner), Oliver wants to know what is wrong with Felicity. Felicity blames herself for the predicament that Ray is in. That if she didn’t take off with Oliver then Felicity would have been in town to save Ray. Felicity didn’t want to be the woman that loses herself in a guy and here we fear for the couple.

Later a heart to heart with her mom, get Felicity to see things in a new light.

Darkh then visits Ray who taunts him and threatens Felicity. Because Team Arrow knows that Darkh has Ray, Lance is tasked to get Darkh to lead them to where he is being held.

Eventually, Team Arrow learns that Ray is being held in a high security building. Part of the plan is to have Diggle pretend to be a HIVE member to “capture” Green Arrow and bring him to Darkh. Meanwhile, Black Canary, Canary and Speedy will keep the other HIVE members at bay. Felicity and Curtis will then base jump into the building so they can use the resizing tech to get Ray.

When the Green Arrow is captured, Darkh wants to know his identity and is about to pull the mask off when Green Arrow kicks him. However, Darkh starts to use magic to choke the Green Arrow but he gets himself out of that jam too. Eventually, Curtis and Team Arrow manage to re-size Ray.

Back at the Arrow Cave, Ray explains what it was like to be small and he is still his adorkable self. Felicity takes him back home.

When Felicity returns home, she and Oliver make up.

Smoak’nLance

We see Lance drinking alone when we see Donna drinking next to him. Both discuss the situations with their kids without them revealing who their children are. The two introduces themselves and looks like Lance might be getting some.

What is in the box?

One of Darkh’s tech guys says they have a piece of Ray’s tech they can use for their own purpose. Darkh is pleased and wants them to test it out on that mystical box that we’ve seen this season. When the box opens, it lays flat to some sort of map.
