Hunter’s vendetta against HYDRA begins with he and Melinda going to a bar in Allson, Mass. to meet Spud, an old buddy that has ties to HYDRA UK and now HYDRAY US. The two men get drunk and their UK English has to be subtitled as they get increasingly drunk. Melinda, known to Spud as Gina, wants to get down to business. Melinda and Hunter have some guns they want to sell to a certain organization. Spud tells Hunter, who he knows as Ritchie, that the only way to meet the boss is to literally fight his way to a meeting.

At their undercover house, Melinda catches Hunter giving Bobbi a lie. The two then go over their plan. Melinda thinks she should be the one to fight but Hunter says that it would be suspicious if a tiny Asian lady kicked some ass thus alerting Ward.

At the HYDRA fight club, Hunter learns that he will be fighting Spud. Hunter isn’t doing so hot but when Melinda is confronted by three thugs, she easily defeats them. Hunter eventually defeats Spud using brass knuckles but he actually ended up killing Spud. This defeat does let Hunter meet with Kebo, Ward’s right hand and we see that Hunter has an in with HYDRA.

The episode opens with Lincoln on the run from Banks and the ATCU. As Lincoln is running away from them, I kept on thinking he would teleport away ala the powers Luke Mitchell’s character John had in The Tomorrow People. Alas, Lincoln used his lightening powers to get away.

Coulson and Mack want to bring Lincoln in but Daisy says she should be the one to do it. Daisy calls Lincoln on his newly acquired burner flip phone. Lincoln figures out that he has a tracker (that Coulson placed) on him because Daisy was describing where he was. Lincoln removes the tracker and is in the wind again.

Coulson, Daisy and Mack then see TV coverage of Lincoln being described as an alien threat. Lincoln was on a bus but managed to escape while Coulson decides to give Rosalind a call to try and find a peaceful resolution to the man hunt.

Lincoln calls his friend John (Daniel Roebuck) for help. John drives Lincoln back to his apartment in Chicago but as soon as John sees the news reports about Lincoln, the ATCU is called. John prevents Lincoln from leaving so he uses hi lightening powers to remove the baseball bat. This ends up giving John a heart attack and he dies.

Coulson allows Mack and Daisy to go and get Lincoln while he goes to meet Rosalind.

Rosalind and Coulson each try and get the others to see their point of view and why each should take Lincoln in.

ATCU arrive at John’s apartment but don’t find Lincoln. Daisy does in an empty apartment and she manages to convince Lincoln to come with her when she talks about how he helped her they first met. The two share a kiss, however, Mack comes in to say that they are letting the ATCU have Lincoln under Coulson’s order. The reason being is Rosalind was going to expose Daisy to the public. However, Lincoln uses his powers to get away. Since that happened, Banks is ordered to take in Daisy but another deal is struck and Daisy is safe.

We later learn that Coulson gave Rosalind himself to help the ATCU.

FitzSimmons

Simmons is back but not to her same old self. Apparently, Simmons’ body has been used to the planet she was on and needs to get use to being back on Earth. Physically, Simmons seems okay but Coulson wants Andrew to check her out mentally.

Fitz is by her side, holding Simmons hands throughout the episode as she tries to get back to her life. Fitz takes her to her lab space but noises from phones and lab equipment starts to freak her out. Later, Simmons and Daisy have a nice talk while Bobbi inspires Fitz with an idea to help Simmons.

Fitz takes Simmons to the restaurant where they were supposed to have their first date. The restaurant is empty and Simmons is overwhelmed that Fitz kept the reservation and is being such a great support. Before ordering, Simmons breaks down and cries and Fitz goes to comfort her.

Coda

We see Bobbi continue her rehab on her knee as she hopes to get back out on the field. As Bobbi finishes up, she comes across Simmons in her lab studying the pieces of the monolith. Bobbi tells Simmons that it isn’t such a great idea to be doing that but Simmons insists she has to because she needs to go back to that planet.

Now the question remains is why?

  1. i’m not entirely sure but was simmons wearing the same clothes she wore when she was swallowed by the monolith? she had been gone for months and it seemed to me that she wore something different. maybe i’m over-thinking but could it be a clue to what happened in those months?
