TV Line reports that True Blood alum has cast Brit Morgan as DC Comics’ villain Livewire to CBS’s new fall show Supergirl. According to the TV Line article, it outlines that per DC Comics lore, Leslie Willis was a Metropolis shock jock who regularly taunted Superman. During an outdoor concert hampered by inclement weather as well as a scuffle with Supes, Leslie was electrocuted, transforming her into the pale-skinned, blue-haired, electricity-manipulating Livewire.
Variety further reports that Supergirl’s version of Livewire will have Morgan’s Leslie as a confident, abrasive and funny shock-jock who works for CatCo Media, the conglomerate owned by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart). When an accident makes her as dangerous and shocking as her words, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) must stop her.
This isn’t the first time that Livewire has appeared on live television. The character appeared in the season 8 Smallville episode “Injustice” and was played by Anna Mae Routledge.
Earlier this week, the superhero show announced that it will be adding General Sam Lane, the superhero Red Tornado and the Kryptonian villain Non. No casting for these roles have been announced.
Supergirl will premiere on CBS on October 26, 2015 at 8:30pm ET/PT.
