It’s the penultimate episode of The Flash’s first season and what an episode it was. It had everything from a rogues gallery to an action-packed showdown between the Flash and Reverse-Flash and two Amells in one place.

So let’s dive right into it shall we.

The episode opens with Wells talking to Eddie but doing what it takes to get back everything that was taken from him and he vows he will get everything back.

Iris is at Jitters looking over the 2000 (she just meant to order 200) return mailing labels that she had made for her and Eddie. First off, is that really necessary? Do people really still send enough letters to warrant having something like this made? To me it’s a waste of money. I digress. Barry joins her and vows to find Eddie so that Wells doesn’t take someone else from someone.

At STAR Labs, Cisco has discovered something underneath Wells’ wheelchair, a futuristic looking battery that seems to power Wells. Team Flash note that part of the particle accelerator has come online and Barry, Joe and Cisco go to investigate. When the reach the tunnels of the particle accelerator, the liquid from Cisco’s pop levitates and Wells emerges using his super speed. Barry gives chase but unfortunately is unable to catch him.

Also emerging from the particle accelerator is Peek-a-Boo who knocks out Cisco then Joe and also grabs his gun. Peek-a-Boo is about to kill Caitlin when Iris saves the day and knocks her out. When Peek-a-Boo is returned to her cell, Cisco, Joe, Iris and Caitlin hears a cry for help.

The quartet find Eddie underneath the cells and is freed. Iris also finds the engagement ring.

As Caitlin checks on Eddie, he tells Joe and Barry that Wells says he was one of his relatives: Eobard Thawne and how he was working on some future looking tube thing that will help him get back what was taken from him. Eddie then just wants to go home a recuperate.

Cisco does find the future tube and sees that it is what is going to power the particle accelerator, which will come online within 36 hours and once it does, it will kill all the metahuman prisoners. Cisco also has no clue on how to turn it off.

Let’s get the whole Iris/Eddie drama over with. Eddie has returned to work and Iris confronts him about proposing to her. Iris realizes that this is now off the table and wants to know why. Eddie tells her that Wells showed him the future and in it they don’t get married but she marries Barry. I saw this scene being filmed across the street and I could tell that it was not happy times for the couple so it is was cool to finally see the context of the scene play out. Later on Iris goes to the CCPD and tells Eddie that screw the future, she chooses her own destiny and Eddie is the man she loves. For a split second it really looks like Iris is going to propose to Eddie but he stops her to say that they need to break up because Barry has always been present in their relationship. Iris doesn’t really deny it and the two are splitsville.

Considering that the lives of the meta humans are in danger, Barry comes up with a plan to transport them to the ARGUS prison on Lian Yu. Unable to reach Oliver for help, Lyla does arrange for a plane to come and take the meta humans. Barry asks Joe to see if he can get the roads cleared during the transport, unfortunately the ADA wants nothing to do with this.

With Oliver stuck on Nanda Parbat and unable to locate Firestorm, Barry turns to Captain Cold to help transport the meta humans to Ferris Air. Captain Cold agrees to help if Barry erases all traces of him at the CCPD, ARGUS and other databases. Barry agrees despite Joe’s reservations.

Also part of this team-up is Lisa Snart, who is not aware that Barry is the Flash. The plan is thus, Cisco has outfitted one those refrigerated food delivery trucks with the battery from Wells wheelchair that will neutralize the meta humans powers. Lisa Snart will drive the truck since she has the required driver’s license while Captain Cold’s role is to protect Barry using his cold gun if something should happen.

The Flash clears the roads to Ferris Air while the meta humans inside starts to snip at each other. In the truck’s cab, Lisa continues to be flirty with Cisco who bestows on her the nickname the Golden Glider. Cisco then notices something is going wrong with the truck and we see that Lisa is in on it. The meta humans powers get activated. We see the Weather Wizard take down the ARGUS plane, the Mist trying to gas our heroes while Deadbolt shots fire out his eyes to take out Joe. Rainbow Raider uses his power to make Caitlin angry and she starts to beat up Cisco. Peek-a-boo just escapes.

The Weather Wizard takes down the Flash while Captain Cold freezes Deadbolt to death. He tells the remaining meta humans to skid daddle. Captain Cold tells the Flash that he went back on his word that he rather have these meta humans as part of his rogues gallery than in a prison in the North China sea and since they owe him, they will prove useful. Captain Cold and Golden Glider then flee the scene.

Back at STAR Labs, Barry thought he could do things the way Oliver would but Joe says that he isn’t Oliver and what makes him different is that he was willing to save the meta humans and he knows between right and wrong.

Team Flash is alerted to Wells’ presence and Barry confronts his former mentor. Taunting occurs on Wells’ side but the Flash gets some help when Firestorm and Al-Sah-Him come on the scene. The Flash says that the Reverse-Flash can’t fight all three of them but Wells begs to differ and uses his ring to transform into the Reverse-Flash.

The Flash and Reverse-Flash battle it out with an assist from Al-Sah-Him and Firestorm. The Reverse-Flash takes out Firestorm where the Flash has to run to ensure that he is safe. Eventually, Al-Sah-Him gets an arrow into the Reverse-Flash that is filled with nanites (courtesy of Ray Palmer) that inhibits his speed. But this is temporary as the Reverse-Flash takes down Al-Sah-Him and tells him that Oliver Queen will live to be 86 but that will change and just as the Reverse-Flash is going to kill him, the Flash comes and we get a pretty epic fight that takes the two speedsters in and around STAR Labs. Finally, the Reverse-Flash is taken down by a tranquilizer arrow from Al-Sah-Him. Just before he leaves, Al-Sah-Him asks Barry for a favour, which he says anytime. This is how the Flash will rescue Team Arrow in tomorrow’s Arrow season finale. Firestorm also leaves and the Flash says over the Revere-Flash’s unconscious body that he has finally got him.

And from next week’s season finale, it looks like Barry just might have saved his mom. Let’s say how much that screws up the timeline.
