Pop Goes The World Podcast: The 2011-2012 TV Season Post-Mortem

It’s summer and that means another TV season has ended. In our latest podcast, Sigrid, Nadya and I break down the TV season that was and mourn some of the TV shows we lost this past season. For Sigrid it was Awake and for me it was Alcatraz. Nadya wasn’t sad that any of the shows that were cancelled got cancelled but was surprised that Nikita got renewed and happy that Fringe also got renewed.

Plus we discuss Glee, NCIS and NCIS LA, and also Once Upon a Time. For a bonus, we all theorize what happened at the end of Sherlock’s Reichenbach Falls episode.

About your hosts:

All three of us met while volunteering for Vancouver’s awesome annual Shakespeare festival Bard on the Beach. One day as we were on our break, we started talking about TV and found out we had a lot to say about TV shows past and present and other things pop culture. Hence this podcast was born.

Vanessa: I love all things pop culture and that includes TV, films and theatre. My favourite shows include Glee, Chuck, Smallville, Felicity, Veronica Mars, Pushing Daisies, Gilmore Girls, Battlestar Galactica, Everwood, Road to Avonlea, The Young Riders, The Muppet Show,. Masterpiece (formerly known as Masterpiece Theatre) and I could go on and on and on and on. Fave films include Star Wars trilogies (yes I said trilogies -I like the prequels), Harry Potter (all 8 films), Wallace and Gromit, Jane Eyre 2011 version, West Side Story, The Sound of Music, and too many more to name. Nadya: In no particular order, Nadya is a outdoors junkie, grad student, daydreamer, problem solver, photographer, foodie, buffy addict, plant enthusiast, and theatre lover. Follow me on twitter: @nadyaogloff.

Sigrid: The arts are my passion – whether I’m watching, reading, or listening, for better or for worse, it’s always an experience for the mind and senses. I am a part-time blogger, English geek, Shakespeare nut, music snob, Anglophile, polyglot, Bayern München fan, Whovian, Top Gear (UK) enthusiast. Follow me on Twitter: starduster360

  1. I can’t describe in words how ecstatic I am by the renewal of Fringe. So I’m just going to dance a merry little jig instead. A wasted visual gag I know, but trust me when I say that my masculinity is fully intact. *cough*
